CO2 LASERS
What Can CO₂ Lasers Process?
CO₂ lasers are highly versatile, making them a preferred choice for creators, educators, and business owners. These machines can efficiently cut and engrave a wide variety of non-metal materials with precision.
Here are some of the most popular items and materials that can be processed with a CO₂ laser:
- Wood Products: Custom signs, cutting boards, ornaments, puzzles, phone stands, and layered wall art are staples of laser engraving. Wood burns beautifully, creating a deep, rich contrast.
- Acrylic: Ideal for creating LED edge-lit signs, awards, display stands, and intricate jewelry. CO₂ lasers can cut and engrave both cast and extruded acrylic, producing a clean, polished edge.
- Powder-Coated Tumblers: One of the most profitable applications. Popular brands like YETI®, RTIC®, and other stainless-steel drinkware with colored coatings can be engraved to reveal the metal underneath.
- Leather & Faux Leather: Used for custom wallets, keychains, journal covers, patches, bracelets, and bookmarks. Lasers create clean details while adding a handcrafted aesthetic.
- Slate & Stone: Coasters, plaques, and photo tiles made from slate or marble can be laser-engraved to create a striking contrast, making them ideal for gifts or memorials.
- Glass: CO₂ lasers can engrave glassware such as wine glasses, mugs, bottles, and awards. The result is a frosted effect that’s perfect for personalization.
- Fabric & Felt: This material is excellent for cutting appliqués, custom patches, and crafts. Materials like denim, cotton, and polyester can be precisely engraved or cut.
- Cardstock & Paper: Used for creating custom invitations, greeting cards, packaging, and intricate paper art. Lasers enable delicate cuts that are impossible with scissors or blades.
- Rubber & Stamps: Ideal for crafting custom rubber stamps, gaskets, or promotional items.
- Laserable Plastic Sheets: Materials like Delrin®, Rowmark®, and two-tone plastics are perfect for tags, signage, control panels, and labels.
- Blanks for Personalization: There is a significant market for prefabricated “laser blanks” such as Christmas ornaments, keychains, luggage tags, magnetic bottle openers, name badges, and pet tags—ready to be customized for retail or gifts.

LASER MACHINE CAPABILITIES
Series | Cuts | Engraves | Marks | Notes |
Evo | ✅ Non-metals (wood, acrylic, leather, etc.) | ✅ Non-metals and coated metals | ⚠️ Bare metals require LaserBond 100 | ❌ Cannot cut or engrave bare metals. Not designed for industrial use or heavy workloads. |
LS-Series | ✅ Non-metals (larger format & more power options) | ✅ Non-metals and coated metals | ⚠️ Requires LaserBond for bare metals | ❌ Cannot cut or engrave metals directly. Not compatible with uncoated metal marking without spray. |
HP-Series | ✅ Non-metals + ⚠️ Thin metals (steel, stainless) | ✅ Non-metals and coated metals | ⚠️ Requires LaserBond for bare metal marking | ❌ Cannot cut thick metals. Not a replacement for a fiber laser when cutting or engraving metals is the priority. |
UV Series | ❌ Not for cutting | ✅ Plastics, glass, ceramics, organics | ✅ High-contrast marks on metals, plastics, glass | ❌ Cannot cut any materials. Not suitable for deep engraving. |
NEED-TO-KNOW CLARIFICATIONS
Marking ≠ Engraving
Marking changes the surface color or contrast (like on stainless steel with spray), while engraving physically removes material to create depth.
→ Not all machines that mark can engrave—and vice versa.
Cutting Metal Requires the Right Tool
Only Fiber lasers (or the HP-Series with upgrades) can cut metal. Standard CO₂ lasers will not cut metal, regardless of wattage.
No One Laser Does It All
Hybrid machines like the FlexCut combine CO₂ and Fiber power in one system, but they don’t run both sources simultaneously. You’ll still need to switch modes depending on the material.
Marking Bare Metal with CO₂ Requires Spray
CO₂ lasers can’t directly mark raw metal surfaces. Use a product like LaserBond 100 to bond a permanent mark.
